Pennridge Inductees

Audrey Anderson (Dawson) is a 1983 Pennridge Graduate. Audrey began her journey with soccer at a young age. Her earliest playing experiences included various venues; Deep Run Valley Sports Association. Upper Bucks Select, PA East State Team, and Team USA, to name a few. She started her high school experiences in 1990, ironically, the first year of girls' varsity soccer at Pennridge. While at Pennridge, Audrey was a four-year varsity starter, captain, and garnered All League selections during her high school tenure. Audrey continued her soccer experiences playing for California University of PA. Her accolades continue as she was named 4-time PSAC All Conference, 4-time NSCAA Regional All American, and a NSCAA All American. In 2008, she was inducted into both the California University Hall of Fame and the Deep Run Hall of Fame Coach. Aud, as her players call her, has been the Pennridge High School Girls Soccer Head Coach since 2012. During her tenure as soccer head coach, Penn-ridge has recorded a 212-35-16 record. Also, during that time, Pennridge has been 2-time PIAA AAAA State Champions (2020, 2023), 2-time PIAA State Finalists (2018, 2021), 3-time District 1 AAAA Champions (2019, 2020, 2023) 11-time conference champions, and 7 appearances in the PIAA state tournament. Penn-ridge topped it all, at year end, with a number 3 National Ranking. Not to stop there, Audrey's team also garnered their second Stan McFarland Sportsmanship Award. Audrey's coaching accomplishments include United Soccer Coaches Regional Coach of the Year, United Soccer Coaches State Coach of the Year, 3-time Pennsylvania State Coaches Association Coach of the Year, Southeast PA Coach of the year, 4-time League Coach of the Year, to name a few. Audrey has been the Deep Run Valley Player Development Coordinator (2007-2022). Audrey is a firm believer of youth development, knowing full well they are the future of Pennridge High School girls' soccer.

Charlie Hoffman is a 1968 Pennridge graduate where he represented his alma mater at the 1967 and 1968 PIAA District One and the PIAA State Championships. He was a finalist in the 100 Butterfly placing 2nd in Districts and 5th in States in his Junior Year. He finished 5th in Districts and 6th in States in his Senior Year. He later attended the University of Maryland where he was a four-year letter winner on the swimming team. He was a member of the 1970 Maryland team that won the Atlantic Coast Conference Championship. In 1972 he was named to the ACC Athletic Honor Roll. In 2000, he resumed his swimming career competing in US Masters Swimming events. He has competed for over 23 years and has won 36 top ten swimming events and 3 FINA World Top Ten swims. Charlie coached the Quakertown Summer swim team while he was in college. In 1973 he was named the Program Aquatic Director at the Upper Bucks YMCA where he started the YMCA swim team. In 1974, he returned to the University of Maryland as a graduate assistant in the Physical Education Department and served as an assistant coach with the swim team. In 1976 he was named head coach for the Maryland men's swim team and in 1980 he was named head coach of the women's swim team. In his time at Maryland, he coached three NCAA All-Americans, one Olympian, and one world ranked swimmer. In 1982, he received the Certificate of Excellence for outstanding coaching from the American Swimming Coaches Association and was named a Level Four Coach by United States Swimming. In 1977, he was invited by Partners of the America's and the Brazilian Sports Federation to conduct competitive swim clinics in Rio de Janeiro. Now retired, he has served as a volunteer coach for the Quakertown HS Swim Team and the Bucks County Special Olympics.

David R. Nyman is best known in the Pennridge area as a soccer coach starting in 1973 in the boys' program and the who was instrumental in starting the girls' soccer program. Dave graduated from Mansfield State College in 1968 where he participated in wrestling and intramural basketball. After graduation he was hired as an elementary teacher at Seylar Elementary School. During his first year he was the Boys' Varsity Soccer Coach at South Jr. High School. Dave created an after-school basketball program for 5th and 6th grade boys and girls which he ran until his retirement in 1999. In 1973, he was hired as the Pennridge HS Boys' JV Coach and the Assistant Varsity Coach. That year he saw the need for the development of a girls' soccer program and he coached girls' soccer at the club level. Due to his initiative, the Pennridge Girls' Soccer Team began in 1989. Under his direction the Girls' Team has become a consistently competitive program reaching the State finals four times and winning the State Championship in 2020 and 2023. One of his former players, Audrey Dawson Anderson, is the current girls' soccer coach. Outside of school Dave was also active in the Deep Run Valley Sports Association where he coached Little League Baseball, Senior Boys' Baseball, Connie Mack Baseball, intramural and travel soccer, basketball, as well as serving in various Board positions from the 1970's to the 1990's. He served several terms as the Board President and is in the DRVSA Hall of Fame. He also served as the Upper Bucks Soccer League President in 1983.Dave continues to serve his community as an elected Supervisor in East Rockhill Township serving on various committees on the county and local level. He is currently employed as the Township Manager in Upper Makefield Township.

 

Quakertown Inductees

Bob Barwis is a 1981 graduate of Quakertown Community High School, where he was a three-sport athlete. He played football for four years, basketball for three years and baseball for four years.
Football was his main sport where he played on the varsity for three years. As a sophomore he earned a spot as a starting offensive lineman playing there for three years. He was a two-way starter in his junior and senior years. As a junior, he achieved honorable mention All Bux-Mont as an offensive tackle. As a senior, he was a team captain, and lineman Most Valuable Player. He was selected as an All Bux-Mont First Team lineman both on offense and defense. He was chosen to represent Quakertown in the Bux County All Star Team where he was chosen the captain for the North Team. After high school, Bob went to the US Naval Academy where he was a two-year letter winner as an offensive tackle.
In addition to football, he lettered at QHS in basketball as a junior. He lettered for two seasons on the baseball team as the starting first baseman. He also played Legion Baseball in the summers for Wallace Willard Post 242 in Quakertown. Bob went on to a career in the Navy including being the Commanding Officer of the Aegis Destroyer deployed to the Arabian Sea during Operation Enduring Freedom. As a Naval Captain he commanded a squadron of destroyers in the Indian Ocean, Red Sea, and Arabian Gulf. After 30 years of acting duty, he served for nine years as a consultant in Ballistic Missile Defense.

Keith Sipple is a 1976 graduate of Quakertown Senior HS where he was a three-year starter in football as a defensive back. He also started as an offensive slot back during his Junior and Senior Years. He was named Honorable Mention All Bux-Mont as a Junior and first team all-league as a Senior as a defensive back. He played in the Bux County All Star Game representing Quakertown on the North Squad. In his Senior year, he was named honorable mention by the Philadelphia Inquirer on the all area team as a defensive back. In basketball, he was a three-year varsity starting guard and compiled 786 career points. Upon graduation, he was the sixth all-time leading scorer in Quakertown history. He was honorable mention in basketball in both his Junior and Senior years. Keith attended Delaware Valley College where he was a four-year letter winner as a defensive back. He earned the team's Outstanding Defensive back award for three of those years and was Honorable Mention Middle Atlantic Conference his senior year. In addition, he led the team with seven interceptions and returned one of them for a 45-yard touchdown vs. Moravian his senior season. In the community, Keith helped coordinate the intramural basketball program for CBAA for ten years as well as coaching teams during that time.

Dave Young was a three-year starter on the Quakertown High School Basketball Team. He ended his career in high school as one of the top scorers in school history. He still holds the school record for most points scored in a single game with 49. After graduation Dave played one year at Ursinus College, following in the footsteps of his father. After graduating from Wharton Business School, he coached basketball at Pinebrook Jr. College in Coopersburg, St. Michael's High School in Austin, TX, the Governor French Academy in Bellesville, IL, and Althoff Catholic Hight School in Bellesville, IL.
